Review: As the daughter of Holocaust Survivor, I rushed to see this movie on Thanksgiving day.Our hero, little girl, is compelling personal story. Her brother die on how they are placed on the foster parents. Nor can she read. Her foster father makes her a natural ally when he taught her to read. Then she met with her neighbor, a small boy.Added mix is ââthe fact that her foster parents hide a Jew. The little girl is brought to her, especially after she learns of his mother, a communist, is likely to become a victim of Nazis. The Jewish youth enhance their education through reading and writing classes. When he gets sick, she reads him as a life to keep him connected living. The historical context of this story is well documented in the Night of Broken Glass burning. This book and the movie is a must-see for anyone like me who are forced to learn about human and historical drama of the Nazi era. |
