Review: I found the island very nice - a great summer blockbuster that is not entirely in vain. This raises some very interesting questions ... Lots of eye candy in any form, either water, landscapes, explosions, action sequences, cinematography, everything you would expect from Michael Bay and Co. rate starts with a bit clumsy as designated premises (although disappointing trailer gives everything) but as he enters the first action sequence that does not leave for a while. Yes the story has a few plot holes, but you can easily ignore them and spread on the fun. Ive never seen Johansson in the movie so far and WOW, now I know what all the fuss is about. He and McGregor show enough chemistry to make their relationship believable, but only just. Im sure it will only lead them to bigger and better things.My the only gripe is with the final scene is filled with choral accompaniment cheap - Blech! Maybe I'm just not Bay how to help. I think it's not a perfect movie .. 7 out of 10, hard, fun, entertainment, what more do you want? |
